The Torch Lite Inn is a motel close to the municipal wharf, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and mile-long Main Beach.
The negative stuff was just minor knitpicky type things and greatly outweighed by all the positives and at a cost of only about $65 a night its practically a steal. Overall though, I really enjoyed my stay. But again, that's just me And lastly no "do not disturb" sign for the door knob which we always use. The resin lounge chairs at the pool were as hard as concrete and not good for my back. I must say though, that they were lax about closing time for the breakfast room so that along with the fact that the breakfast offerings were as extensive as they were makes up for it. I wish they would extent it at least an hour.

I mean who wants to get up at the crack of dawn while on vacation, right?. My roommate, however, loved the chair so I guess it was just me. When I leaned back to relax the back went back so far I thought I was going to fall completely backwards out of the chair. Its supposedly adjustable, but either I was doing it wrong or the levers were broken. I mean, what's up with that? The desk chair was uncomfortable. From wharf adjacent ‘60s style rooms with private balconies and onsite bars to right-on-the-beach inns rocking freebie breakfast and cozy details we know just the hotels you want to stay at in Santa Cruz. I wouldn't even call them complaints really, but more like suggestions for improvements. There was hardly anything to complain about. Once you cross the bridge your a mere two block walk to the beach and boardwalk. And the pièce de résistance was the location. They offered a breakfast with choices like toast, peanut butter and jam, hot or cold cereal, coffee, tea, and juice, fresh fruit and pastry-a more than decent spread. I can't say this about a lot of places I've stayed but this motel is a nice place to hang out at during vacation down time. There was also a sitting area on the second floor that overlooked the pool.
The motel had a very nice pool complete with tables, chairs, and chase lounges for stretching out in the sun.
We had two comfortable double beds and lots of pillows.
