MOST people THINK that all car batteries today are 'maintenance free' when in fact they are NOT. SOME are totally 'maintenance free' (the type I HATE), but MANY you CAN inspect/maintain.
MOST people are unaware that SOME batteries require regular inspection and maintenance. That replacement battery lasted me for many years! The warranty on that new battery was only as long as the remaining portion of the original, which was fine with me. During the life of the warranty it went bad and I got a NEW battery in exchange at no cost. I had the same experience with a Sears DieHard.

Giving you a NEW replacement of the product during the full duration of the warranty period is pretty darn good. In a strange way, the person to blame isn't Costco but the scutzo customer scamming the prior generous warranty that ruined it for all! I assume had you just bought a new battery outright, it would have come with a new 36 month warranty.

Since the warranty was based on the purchase of the battery, the free replacement would and should only have the balance of the original warranty. If so, you still have the 36 month warranty from that original purchased. That FREE battery came with the remainder of the original PURCHASED battery warranty.

What are the best warranty /value for Auto Batteries these days ?ġ. It looks like 36 Months FREE replacement warranty not working as FREE replacement, instead acting like pro_rated warranty. Their service manager told me that a lot of people keep bringing in batteries like a month before the three years expire and get new batteries before their warranties expire. I used their prior 60 Months and 48 months many years ago. Before the replacement battery would have the full 3 year warranty. So the new battery that they gave me only has 1 month warranty remaining and not three years (36 months).
They are pro-rating the remaining warranty for the replacement battery. I took the Battery to Costco to get a replacement. Mine started acting up close to warranty END.
